Just
like you, we value our relationships with dogs and cats. Our dogs are family
members and we love them. Animals are treasured companions with loyal and loving
souls. As their guardians and companions, we take responsibility for their
health, well-being and comfort.
Many breeds suffer from neck and back
pain, disc problems, or arthritis. Others may experience stiff joints, canine
and feline hip dysplasia or degenerative myelopathy.
We saw a need for very special pet
bedding.
Our personal experience found many foam
beds had sides were simply too high to step over for disabled or small animals.
Even beds labeled orthopedic were not providing the special support required for
recovery and health maintenance. Lastly, lifting an injured animal into bed is
often uncomfortable for pet and caretaker.
We designed a bed for the special
needs of companion animals with mobility challenges.
Over
three
years ago our senior mini Dachshund suffered a back injury. Our vet prescribed
medication for pain and confined Zeus to bed rest. After lots of towel walking,
medication and back leg bicycling we began looking for a more holistic approach
to health care. We focused on maintaining healthy weight, modifying his diet to
include whole foods and vitamin supplements, limiting jumping by installing a
ramp over stairs, physical and massage therapy. Zeus, is not crate trained and
we found watching him "get into" his traditional bed was painful. As
Terrie sought out a more accessible, supportive and comfortable bed there was
nothing on the market. Her chiropractic pillow seemed a good choice for support
but still challenging for immobile back legs. The KuddleKot™ Companion Animal ChiroBed™
includes modifications specifically for companion animals.
Our company is an entrepreneurial endeavor
with all the resources of a large corporate organization.
Terrie and her production team have
50 years combined experience in their fields of expertise. Her manufacturer
brings 35 years experience in the private label apparel and sportswear industry
modified the pillow, sourced the finest components and coordinates production.
Terrie, brings 20 years in marketing,
printing and retail sales. She consulted with veterinarians, pet supply retailers
and teamed with design professionals manages marketing, sales and new product
development.
Zeus tested the beds, rolled in the
blankets, and even shared some samples with his dog friends.
He managed
quality assurance and canine relations delegating feline relations to the
humans.
For 12+ years he was a morale booster, providing a source of
strength and inspiration and reminded us to stop and take a walk in the grass,
have a yummy lunch or play catch.
Zeus died of heart failure on June 7, 2007, we all miss him terribly. You see
his photos through out our website and he was the inspiration for the bedding
line.
Roger
and Rosie. After Zeus' passing we adopted two beautiful Dachshunds. They are
spunky and spry for their age. More photos of the new duo will be gracing the

Terrie's
company Oakwood Design is comprised
of four divisions. Kuddle Kots™ specializes in companion animal products. The other
divisions are design/printing consultation, cook's wear and manufacturing.
